Reasons to Buy Prom Dresses Online

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Buying prom dresses online is a completely different experience than buying at a store. One obvious example is that you might have to use quite a bit of gas to get to a physical store. Also, the amount of time you have to put into looking for a dress in a store could be prohibitive. For some, this might seem harrowing, but taking advantage of the internet simplifies the process immensely.

Going the internet route could even allow you to secure advantages unheard of at a physical store. Online retailers are a proven way to get great prices on affordable merchandise. They might also offer a pricing guarantee that others might not. They may agree to match or at least closely match the prices advertised by other internet retailers. Buying a prom dress on the internet is superior to going to a store.

Of course, stores do have the advantage of immediacy. The dresses are right in front of you and you can search throughout the racks, looking for that special dress. On the other hand, if you buy your prom dress online, you can relax at home while doing so. You don’t have to worry about getting dressed; you can just fire up the computer and be looking at prom dresses in minutes.

One reason to shop for prom dresses early is that popular styles are snapped up very quickly. The most popular ones are gone in the blink of an eye. Some people may be shocked to find that, even though they provided accurate measurements, the dress still fits poorly. Be sure to account for any alterations that might be necessary. That can tack on another few weeks, especially if seamstresses are swamped with alterations for other dresses.

There are lots of great brands you can find online, such as Alyce Designs, Jovani, and Mori Lee. PromGirl.net brings you the best prom dresses from America’s top designers. You are sure to make a statement by wearing the perfect prom gown on your perfect prom night. Finding your favorite 2010 prom dress or homecoming gown is easy. Just browse through their famous Prom and homecoming gown designers: Paris, Sherri Hill, Mori Lee, Clarisse, Riva, Jovani and Night Moves. Their prom dresses and prom gowns are hand-made and hand-beaded individually and are shipped after one-two days of processing time.

Make certain that you give the right measurements. Even if the dress ends up not fitting well, at least you won’t have to alter it too much. You can also ask for help from a member of the customer care team, who can give you some pointers about which prom dress might be right for you. Buying a prom dress online can be a great way to ensure that prom night is an experience to remember.

Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Selecting a wedding photographer to capture the moment of the most important day of your life can be a daunting task. Here are tips to ensure that you choose a photographer who will make your wedding day extra special.

Experience: An experienced photographer will have a substantial portfolio that you can review. When looking at his or her portfolio, check to make sure that all of the standard compositions (such as the bride prior to the wedding, ceremony photos, and those with family members) are there, as well as more creative interpretations of the couples’ special days. Look for unique lighting and settings, as well as pictures that seem to capture the brides’ and grooms’ personalities. After all, you don’t want a cookie cutter Winnipeg photographer – you want one who understands you and your needs.

Chemistry: You and your photographer should have a similar vision for your special day. You have enough on your plate, and shouldn’t have to spend time on your wedding day supervising your photographer. He or she should be open to the shots you have in mind, and you should be open to his or her interpretation of events as they unfold. Put simply, you have to trust your photographer. You can give him or her a list of photos you want taken; after all, the photographer doesn’t know that Aunt Betsy is one of the most important people in your life. However, you also need to be able to trust his or her artistic vision, and follow his or her suggestions.

Price: When it comes to hiring a wedding photographer – you need to stay within your budget but still feel confident that you will get treasured photos from your wedding day. A good wedding photographer will have a variety of packages and prices from which to choose. This way, you can book a talented photographer at a price you can afford.

Pictures: A good photographer becomes part of the infrastructure of your wedding day, and is an expert you can rely upon for advice. He or she can guide you through the maze of engagement photos, rehearsal dinner photos by offering advice on settings, hair and makeup, and even clothing that will help you to shine.

The Best Wedding Cakes For Any Wedding

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Wedding cakes are a centerpiece of every wedding reception. They are an important part of the décor, often featured prominently throughout the entire dinner. Regardless on the time of year that your wedding will be held, the formality or the number of guests, a beautiful customized wedding cake is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. Whether you would like to order a classic or take advantage of one of the more modern incarnations, the right one will reflect the personality of you and your spouse.

The classic, multi-tiered floral cake is still a favorite. These cakes usually feature at least three stacked tiers and are often decorated with icing flowers that look like those carried by the wedding party. If you are considering this option, talk to your bakery about the number of guests that it is expected to feed, as well as your preferences for cake and icing flavors. Gourmet wedding cakes are available that use unique flavor combinations, and in some cases, each tier is different to ensure that the tastes of each guest are accommodated.

If you will be using one of the classic styles for cakes, a custom wedding topper will make it feel more personal. Many wedding toppers are designed to look like the couple that is being married and it is a special keepsake that provides a lasting reminder of the wedding day. If you will be ordering a personalized topper, make sure that you place your order far enough in advance to make sure that it is ready in time for the wedding.

A more modern trend that has been featured in a number of wedding magazines are monogram wedding cakes. These are often angular and monochromatic, with the initials of the new couple inscribed in icing. Though black and white (or ivory) are the most common choices, there is no need to confine your selection to these standards. Feel free to select colors that match your wedding party or any other colors that will be displayed prominently in your wedding decorations. If you are selecting a style of cake that is not large enough to feed all your guests, consider supplemental cakes. These will not be decorated for display, but will be cut in the kitchen and distributed from there. This can be a great way to save on wedding cakes.

Wedding gift ideas

Read these wedding gift ideas and release your stress over the gift to buy.

Being invited to a bridal shower or a wedding makes some people cringe. It is not the wardrobe that worries them, it is the gift selection that keeps them up at night. Some people truly put too much stress on themselves- honestly you would think that the bride would weep if she did not open the perfect gift from each and every one of her guests. Even the sweetest bride in the world has too much on her mind to really pay a lot of attention to her gifts at this moment, so aim for something that will satisfy you, and will maybe catch her eye after the dust of this chaotic day settles.

I still hear comments about a gift I put together for one of the very first wedding I ever attended. It was right after graduating high school, and I felt so grown up-my very first adult type event! Even from a young age, I worked a lot, so I bought almost everything by catalog- ( the Internet was not such a big deal back then). One of the companies that I ordered from sent free gifts, but the gifts were never anything that a young woman, still living at home with her parents could use. Now all of a sudden I had a use for these things. I gathered them all up, bought three wicker baskets, some dish cloths and a few odds and ends. I lined each basket with the cloths, and then arranged all of the household freebies and such into each. My gift was so well received that I later learned that the idea had been used for several other bridal showers as well as a few baby showers. The idea is simple: gather items of a similar nature and then put them into a basket, a pretty trash can or a laundry hamper, whatever you feel appropriate.

Give a gift that keeps giving: buy a rose bush or other flowering shrub for the bride. She can plant it in the yard at her new home as a reminder of your thoughtful gift and to refresh the memories of her special day.

If the bride is enrolled in college, or already established in her career, a gift that will help her further herself is always appreciated. If you do not know the bride that well, or do not know exactly what her future plans are, then consider a pretty picture frame or art print. Do not buy huge pictures, especially if you do not know how they will fit into the decor of her new home. Stay with small and tasteful and do not be upset if it is not displayed right in the front room.

As a last resort, buy a gift certificate to a local or online shop and allow the bride to shop at her leisure, perhaps after she has returned from her honeymoon so that she can relive some of her pre wedding, wedding day excitement.
